The percentage of muscle mass on bodymass is often used as a measure for fitness. Body Mass correlates to the basal metabolic rate (BMR).
Muscle Mass is a specific data object to store muscle mass as percentage of bodymass respectively bodyweight.
Use– Documentation of muscle mass – For measurements via analytic balance in ambulant settings – Calculate composition of body weight – Actual or past measurements – Exact measurement or Calculation
Not use– Do not use for estimation – Do not use for determination of bone mass due to other methods
The Muscle Mass is a measurement object without any specific attributes. See Measurement for more information.
If past measurements should be recorded, the start date must contain the date of measurement.
Following LOINC codes can be used to specify the parameter code:
|73964-9||Body muscle mass||^Patient||Mass||Pt||Qn||Calculated|
|73965-6||Body muscle mass/body weight||^Patient||MFr||Pt||Qn||Measured|
Or use the CGM LOINC add-on:
|XCG80082-1||bone mass by balance|
See Measurement Enums for more information.
See Measurement Catalogs for more information.
Because various factors can have an effect on Muscle Mass, such as changes in weight or lifestyle, the Muscle Mass object can be updated up to several times a week.Recommended rules: – Maximum once a week if muscle mass is constant. – Maximum once a day if muscle mass varies.
See Measurement Schema for further information.
No EHR or Tenscan standards.
